As an interior designer, I have worked on many bedroom projects. I understand the obstacles one faces while trying to furnish a space. Low beds are better for younger people who don’t yet feel any pains or aches. The older crowd might lean more towards taller type beds. Besides the bed, you should account for other furniture in the space as well as the space necessary to move around the room comfortably. Let us not forget about the headboard, I tend to tape that out as well. That way you will get a better idea of the wall space you have left above in case you would want to add art above your bed.
